Yes, Halcyon is a real word. We assure you we did not make it up. It means “denoting a period of time in the past that was idyllically happy and peaceful.” We could tell you we picked it because it reminds us of the internet golden age before ransomware existed or makes us think of a future where no one worries about ransomware. However, the truth is we are all geeks at heart, and our favorite movie is the 1995 cult classic Hackers. The movie starts off featuring a track by the band Orbital. The song they’re playing is called “Halcyon”, and that is what inspired our company name.
