Norton Healthcare Suffers Cyber Attack

Norton Healthcare has suffered a cyber attack. While the organization hasn’t called the incident a ransomware attack, it has received faxed threats and demands from cyber criminals beginning on May 9th. The healthcare provider has stressed its network was never out of its control and that patient care continues. “Within days, we learned that Norton Healthcare was the victim of a cyber-event and we contacted the FBI. Caregivers follow established procedures when systems are offline. They may have to utilize manual processes and paper, but they are working hard to ensure patients receive the care they need,” the company said.

It’s as yet unclear the extent of the attack but investigations are underway.
